Mobility Programmes and Scholarships at NUI Maynooth

TAUGHT PROGRAMMES

NUI Maynooth provides Postgraduate Scholastic Funding specially aimed at students undertaking a Taught Postgraduate course. All support is awarded on a competitive basis.

Studentships:

Graduates with a First Class Honours bachelors degree or equivalent undertaking a Taught Postgraduate Course are eligible to apply for a Studentship. Six Studentships valued at €5,000 plus EU fees are available.

Tuition Bursaries:

Graduates with a First Class Honours bachelors degree or equivalent undertaking a Taught Postgraduate Course are eligible to apply for a Tuition Bursary (EU Fee Waiver). Ten Tuition Bursaries are available.

Application Process

Heads of Departments put forward students for Scholastic Funding from among their incoming students undertaking a taught postgraduate course.

Students,  with an overall First Class Honours bachelors degree, who wish to be nominated  for the Scholarship competition, should enclose a personal statement  with their application form   (maximum 400 words).This statement should describe the student’s  academic experience and interests, their undergraduate work and goals.

 

RESEARCH PROGRAMMES

External Funding

Irish Research Council for Science Engineering and Technology - (Also known as the Embark Initiative) offer funding to students who wish to pursue a PhD or Masters (by Research) in the relevant disciplines. Calls are twice a year, usually Spring and Summer. For further details please visit www.ircset.ie

Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences - offer funding to students who wish to pursue a PhD or Masters (by Research) in the relevant disciplines. Calls are once a year (typically late Autumn). For further details please visit www.irchss.ie

Internal Funding

John and Pat Hume Scholarships - Funding available to students pursuing a PhD or Master By research in any discipline at NUI Maynooth. Fees at EU level and in some cases a stipend are available. For further information, please contact Marie Murphy in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
