2) DESCRIPTION OF MODULES

Noves Identitats (15 ECTS) (New Identities)
Description: In this module students will deal with different theoretical ongoing debates and new and transversal fields in order to get the ability to integrate the anthropological perspective into the general framework of social and cultural systems, and also to fulfil a specialized comprehension of sociocultural diversity.
Blocks (courses): Audiovisual Anthropology; New perspectives in Childhood Anthropology; Identity and citizenship: inclusion and exclusion; Work, consumption and co-development; Ambivalent identifications: systems of social classification; Childhood, migration and education.
 
Cultura visual, cultura popular i estudis regionals (Visual culture, Popular Culture and Regional Studies) (15 ECTS)
Description: Assuming that an in-depth knowledge of world-wide socio-cultural diversity is impossible, this module seeks to reach a thorough knowledge of one (or a few) cultural areas, as well as ethnographic researches, so they may serve as a referent in relation to cultural diversity, complexity and dynamics. As a result, it may be easier to get reliable knowledge, by analogy or contrasting, of different cultural situations approachable through ethnographic texts, fieldwork or cross-cultural relationships.
Blocks (courses): Anthropology of Gender; Structural Anthropology: Amerindian Systems of Alliance; International Migrations; + 1 or 2 additional courses to be selected at your arrival.
 
Perspectives transculturals en Antropologia (Cross-cultural perspectives in anthropology) (15 ECTS):
Description:Knowledge of the history of the opposition between comparison and cultural uniqueness in Anthropology and other ontological, epistemological and methodological related questions. Knowledge of different ways of cross-cultural comparison and of those documentary sources that make it possible
Blocks (courses): Proceedings of cross-cultural comparison; Identity, personhood and group; Kinship and cross-cultural research; + 1 or 2 additional courses to be selected at your arrival.
  
Metodologies i tècniques en la recerca antropològica  (Methodologies and techniques in anthropological research) (15 ECTS):
Description:Knowledge of advanced epistemological and methodological debates. Proficiency of techniques’ theory which enables the researcher to decide which techniques may be more suitable for every specific research purpose. Study of specialized techniques. Ability to properly compare and differentiate several methodological orientations as well as anthropological (and other close-related Social Sciences) research procedures.
Blocks (courses): Methodological Orientations in Social and Cultural Anthropology; Analysis of Social Networks; Life history; Documentation in Anthropology and History; + 1or 2 additional courses to be selected at your arrival.
 

3) CREOLE Erasmus | Thesis Pillar Modules:

ERASMUS. 15 ECTS

1. Teacher Exchange (5 ECTS). Semester 1, 2, 3.

2. Intensive Programme (10 ECTS). Beginning of Semester 3. [Please notice that at Barcelona the IP credits are awarded by the end of Semester 2].

THESIS MODULE 1. (15 ECTS)

1. Research for Thesis at partner institution. Semester 3 [Please, notice that at Barcelona this 15 ECTS are better to be taken on the second Semester].

THESIS MODULE 2. (30 ECTS)

1. Writing of Thesis.
2. Tutorials.
3. Defence of thesis.

Semester 4.

 

4) SEMESTER STRUCTURE FOR STUDENTS FROM PARTNER UNIVERSITIES

Semester 1: Modules MA. (2 pillars and 2 building blocks)

Semester 2: Research period (we may offer specific seminar sessions / teaching exchange courses).

Semester 3: Modules MA (same labels as Semester 1 but maybe different contents).

Semester 4: Writing and Defence Thesis

 

STUDENT: Be aware!    

The UAB only allows taking whole modules. Therefore, the student who wish to come to the UAB will have to know that the second semester will only be able to make investigation and that during the third semester they will have to register themselves of two modules of 15 ECTS and to make them complete.

At the moment we are in a process of conversations with the UAB administration in order to clarify the terms of interchange and the possible supply of vacants in the other universities members of the consortium. The result will be communicated ASAP.

 MARKING SYSTEM:

Our university follows the Spanish grading system. Translation to ECTS is offered for itnernational students and Joint Programmes as CREOLE.

 

COURSES CALENDAR:

MA Courses are offered in evening hours: 17h-21h. Depending on the bolck (course) selected, dates may vary. A detailed calendar will be provided to all students coming to our university within the MA framework.

 

REQUIRED PRESENCE:

Please, note that courses are presential and attendance is compulsory to a minimum of 80% of every course sessions.
